Biography

Nicolò Cafaro was born in Catania in 2000 and began his studies at the age of 7. Since 2011, he’s been studying under the guidance of Graziella Concas at the “Vincenzo Bellini” Conservatory in Catania, where he received his Bachelor’s degree with cum laude and where is currently attending the 2nd level academic biennium. He was able to establish himself in the music field in numerous important national and international piano competitions among which the 19th Giulio Rospigliosi National Competition, the 6th Young Musicians City of Treviso Competition, and at the 1st Vladimir Krajnev Moscow International Piano Competition in Moscow, where he was the first Italian finalist at only 15 years old. At the age of 19 he won his 6th prize at the 62nd Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano. He has participated in masterclasses held by artists such as Benedetto Lupo, J. Achucarro, A. Lebedev, I. Kaltchev, B. Berezovsky, J.E. Bavouzet, C. Katsaris. Since the age of 12 he has also studied under Leonid Margarius, and starting from 2017 has been attending the "High Specialization" courses held by the maestro at the International Piano Academy of Imola. Nicolò held his first public recital at the age of 12, and despite his young age he already boasts a rich concert activity, performing in over 50 piano and orchestra recitals and concerts for important theaters and musical institutions, including Accademia Filarmonica di Messina; Electra Theater in Iglesias; Palazzo Siotto in Cagliari for the Corde D’Autunno Classical and Contemporary Music Festival; Associazione Mozart Italia, with the recital Matinèe in Casa Mozart in Rovereto; Amici di Verdi Association at the historic Casa Barezzi Hall in Busseto (PR); The 36th Mario Ghislandi Festival; Dino Ciani Association; 32nd Rassegna Internazionale Musica Moderna e Contemporanea Traiettorie 2022 in Parma; “Associazione Amici della Musica di Padova” with the recital held at the Sala dei Giganti of the University. Nicolò Cafaro is considered by music critics as a mature, sensitive performer, with a marked predilection for virtuosity and with a vast repertoire. Nicolò has also performed as a soloist in numerous concerts for piano and orchestra on some of the most prestigious stages, such as Teatro Sangiorgi (CT) with the Third Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Beethoven; Teatro Massimo Bellini (CT) with the Concerto for piano and orchestra n.1 in B flat minor, op.23 by Tchaikovsky, and the Concerto n° 3 op. 26 by S. Prokofiev; the "U. Giordano” Theatre in Foggia, Concerto No. 21 K467 by W.A. Mozart; The "Goldoni" Theatre of Livorno, Concerto n° 3 op. 37 by L.V. Beethoven; the Teatro dell'Opera del Casinò of Sanremo, Concerto n°1 Op. 23 by P.I. Tchaikovsky. He has recently performed at the La Fenice theater in Venice, winning the 38th edition of the piano competition Premio Venezia 2022. In April 2023, he made his debut on the record market by publishing his first album for the Suonare News magazine, a solo recording containing the music of F. Chopin and J. Brahms.
